Shakira gives birth to second son: Singer welcomes baby boy with partner Gerard Pique
The singer already has son Milan with her footballer beau, and announced she was pregnant with her second child last year
Shakira has welcomed her second son with partner Gerard Pique.
The Colombian singer gave birth to her baby boy, who is said to be called Sacha, at the same clinic, Quiron Teknon Hospital in Barcelona, where she gave birth to fist son Milan two years ago.
According to reports, the star had a planned cesarean and welcomed her baby boy at around 11pm last night.
The newborn's name is yet to be revealed, but the couple are expected to release a statement later today.
Fellow footballer Lionel Messi was among the first to congratulate the couple, writing on Twitter: "Congratulations @shakira and @3gerardpique on the birth of your son.."
As with Milan, the new arrival will become an associate member of Barcelona Football club.
The She Wolf singer has been in a relationship with the sportsman since 2010 , and previously spoke of their joy at expecting another child together.
They met four years ago when Pique appeared in the music video for Shakira's hit song Waka Waka (This Time for Africa).
Speaking at the launch of her new perfume, Rock! in October last year, Shakira told Hello! that footballer boyfriend is very hands-on with their son.
"He is very involved with his son. He is always there for him, and that's a big advantage for me as I cannot imagine it any other way," she said.
Shakira’s parents were actually the first to confirm the news that the Colombian singer was expecting again, as they told Hola! Magazine: "We're very happy…she's having another baby boy—a playmate for Milan."
