Dtac launches 4G in Khon Kaen

Dtac's executive Voravat Vongsangah leads the team to launch 4G service in Khon Kaen.

Total Access Communication (Dtac) launches its first 4G service in the northeast in Khon Kaen, the key transportation and business hub of the region as well as for the Asean Economic Community (AEC) in the near future.

According to Dtac, with 202.61 per cent data growth rate, the northeastern province has the highest growth than other parts of the country primarily because the city offers a great potential for investment and industrial growth and has the second highest income per capita in the northeast, behind only Nakhon Ratchasima.  Khon Kaen also has the fourth highest population in the country. Dtac customers in Khon Kaen can apply for a 4G free trial for 4 months by dialing *444#.

"We chose Dtac chose Khon Kaen to launch our first 4G service in the northeast as Khon Kaen is located in the centre of the Northeast as well as the Mekong region. Khon Kaen is the regional hub for both ground and air transportation and is also the economic gate to the east and the west. Dtac's 4G coverage area is focused on communities with high data usage. Dtac's 4G coverage area currently covers 65 per cent on top of 3G in Muang District. Meanwhile, the smartphone usage in the northeast is the highest among all regions with the peak being between 9pm-10pm in Khon Kaen," said Voravat Vongsangah, head of Regional Business - Northeast.

By the end of February, Dtac is planning to expand 4G coverage to major cities, including Nakhon Ratchasima, Udon Thani, and Ubon Ratchathani, to enhance the mobile lifestyle and growing demand for data services in the region that has the highest growth rate in Thailand.

Aiming to become the leader in mobile internet, Dtac is installing 6,500 more 3G and 4G base stations to cover Bangkok Metropolitan and 30 big cities across Thailand by March 31, 2015. Dtac has achieved one of its milestones by recently launching 4G in Phuket and is gradually extending the service to major cities across all regions.
