UK weather: Plummeting temperatures of -11C means it will be warmer inside FRIDGE


The big freeze is set to continue all week, weathermen have warned, with more snow on the way

The big freeze will continue all week with weathermen warning it will be warmer inside a fridge.
Britain will wake up on Monday to a heavy blanket of frost as temperature plummet to -10C or -11C and more snow is also on the way, according to the Met Office.

"It will remain very cold right throughout the week," said Met Office forecaster Simon Partridge.
"The temperature is likely to drop below freezing every night this week.
"There will be widespread frost Sunday night going into Monday, quite severe in some places, with the temperature dropping to -10C or -11C in Scotland.
"There will also be a few more snow showers in northern Scotland and Northern Ireland.
"There will be a lot of ice down the east coast with temperature dropping to -4C or -5C. It will even get down to -2C in central London."
The coldest temperature recorded so far this winter was -12.5C in Scotland on January 18th.
Mr Partridge added: "The maximum temperature on Monday will only be around 4C or 5C which is about the same as inside your fridge.
"And there is a further band of rain, sleet and snow coming in on Monday night which will see some snow in Western parts on Tuesday.
"It will be dry with sunny spells from Wednesday, but still very cold with some snow on the East Coast."

Freezing snow blizzards of up to 70mph are set to bring more travel chaos to Britain as the January cold spell continues.
The Met Office has issued yellow ice warnings across the whole of the UK, with snow warnings also in place in the Midlands, northern England,Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Drivers are being warned to take extra care on dangerously icy roads and rail services are likely to be disrupted.
