HTC has reportedly cancelled the rumoured lite variant of the upcoming One (M9), called the HTC Hima Ace, and is instead replacing it with a high-end Desire series device called the HTC Desire A55 that is scheduled to launch this month.
According to @Upleaks, the tipster who in December also reported about the Hima Ace, HTC is preparing a high-end smartphone codenamed HTC A55, which will be a Desire series smartphone to replace the anticipated lite variant of the upcoming flagship HTC One (M9). The HTC A55 is also claimed to come in two variants - the single-SIM A55#UL variant for the EMEA market and the dual-SIM A55#DTUL model for Asia - and arrive in February.
On Friday, the tipster had first tweeted the specifications of the HTC A55, and then in a follow-up tweet suggested that the smartphone will replace the HTC Hima Ace.
The tipped specifications of the HTC Desire A55 include a 5.5-inch Quad-HD (1440x2560 pixels) display; an octa-core 64-bit MediaTek MT6795 chipset clocked at 2.0GHz; 3GB of RAM; 32GB of built-in storage; a 20-megapixel rear camera; a 13-megapixel or 4 UltraPixel front camera; BoomSound speakers; Bluetooth 4.1; a battery with a capacity lower than 3000mAh, and HTC Sense 7.0 on top of Android 5.0 Lollipop. The three colour options suggested by the tipster are - White Rose Gold, Gray, and Brown Gold.
To remind you, HTC has a pre-MWC event scheduled on March 1 in Barcelona, where it is expected to unveil its next flagship smartphone, the much-rumoured HTC One (M9) aka HTC Hima. This indicates the HTC Desire A55 may also be unveiled at the same event, rather than in February.
