UK weather: World's biggest airliner battles howling 60mph winds as it lands at Manchester Airport
The A380 Airbus was forced to land at an angle to counter the ferocious gusts
High winds caused a plane landing at Manchester Airport to heart-stoppingly veer off course.
Pilots wrestled with 60mph crosswinds while attempting to land the Emirates Airbus A380, forcing crew to land the plane at an angle
The strong winds could be seen blasting the Emirates Airbus A380 yesterday onto an angle and throwing it off course as it approached the tarmac.
Despite the wind, the airliner landed safely.
Manchester Airport grounded all flights earlier today because of the weather.
A spokesman said: "Following the poor weather experienced this morning, flights have now resumed but are subject to delays.
Schools across the nation have been closed while motorways have come to a halt as snow, wind and plunging temperatures smash through the UK.
Experts predict the nation will have to batten down the hatches for several days as the extreme weather could be here until next week, while tonight could see as much as 15cm of snow falling in parts of the country.
