Storm cuts power to 24,000 Perth homes

A spectacular thunderstorm in Perth has left 24,000 homes without electricity and grounded flights.
A spectacular thunderstorm in Perth has ended a 62-day dry spell, cut electricity to 24 thousand homes and grounded flights.
The storm early this morning also prompted a road weather warning.
Police say caution is key particularly at some intersections where build-ups of oil and grease are likely.
A marine wind warning has been issued too, with strong gusts forecast for the Gascoyne, Geraldton, Perth, Bunbury Geographe and Leeuwin coasts.
Air travellers are encountering delays as several flights have been grounded due to lightning.
